Steaming

Steaming cookware for fast, gentle, flavor-first meals — vegetables, fish, dumplings, grains and complete steam-stack dinners.

Steaming cookware for fast, gentle meals

Steaming is one of the simplest ways to cook vegetables, fish, dumplings, grains, and complete meals with consistent results. This collection brings together the pieces you need for gentle heat, efficient steam circulation, and practical everyday use — whether you steam as a side-dish routine or build full "steam-first" dinners.

What to choose:

  • Steaming Lid (EasyQuick): for quick steaming in compatible pot sizes — great for weeknights
  • Inserts & accessories: useful when you want layered steaming or more control over texture
  • Smart support: if you're new to steaming, timing matters — smart accessories reduce overcooking

If your goal is "healthy but still flavorful," steaming works best when you season intentionally (herbs, citrus, aromatics) and finish with a quick sauce or drizzle after cooking. Proper care keeps stainless-steel performance predictable and surfaces looking new. For a deeper look at the technique, see our cooking methods.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about this collection — sizing, compatibility, technique, and care.

What's the difference between Softiera, Combi, and EasyQuick?

Softiera is the basic perforated insert for single-layer steaming — drop it into a Rondeau or Stock Pot for vegetables, fish or dumplings. Combi is the stackable two-tier insert that lets you cook starch, protein and vegetables on one pot at the same time. EasyQuick is the steaming lid that turns any compatible Rondeau or Stock Pot into a sealed steamer that cooks up to 20% faster.

Does no-water steaming actually preserve more nutrients?

Yes — measurably. A 2009 University of Vienna study compared A by AMC's low-water steaming method with conventional boiling and recorded up to 50% higher retention of carotenoids, vitamin C and B-vitamins in the same dish. The principle: water-soluble vitamins leach into cooking water; remove the water and they stay in the food.

Can I cook multiple foods at once when steaming?

Yes — that's what the Combi stackable insert is for. Place rice or grains in the bottom layer, fish or chicken in the middle, vegetables on top, and everything cooks together in a single pot. It's the fastest way to get a complete meal on the table without juggling pans.

Do I need a special pot for steaming, or can I use one I already own?

If you already own a Rondeau, Stock Pot or compatible A by AMC pot, the Softiera, Combi and EasyQuick lid will fit and turn it into a steamer. If you're starting from scratch, the Pure Steam bundle includes the Rondeau plus all three steaming components at a system price.

How long does steaming take vs boiling?

Steaming is usually faster than boiling, because you don't wait for a large volume of water to come to a boil. With the EasyQuick lid sealed, broccoli takes ~4 minutes, fish fillets ~6–8, and a full multi-layer Combi meal usually under 20.
